The spelling rule we have been revising this week is homophones. We have been focussing on they’re/their/there, main/mane, peace/piece, fair/fare.
During the week we have discussed the spelling objective, revised the use and meaning of the focus homophones and how to use them appropriately in a sentence. To support your child’s understanding please explore the BBC Teach website: English KS2: Homophones - BBC Teach
On Wednesday the children will be asked to identify the focus homophone in a dictation lesson – they will then write the correct spelling as part of their spelling assessment. They will complete 5 of these followed by 5 of the Year ¾ Common exception words.
